Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about MoneyCalc — calculators, accuracy, privacy, and features.

General

Is MoneyCalc really free?

Yes — all calculators on MoneyCalc are 100% free, with no subscription, premium tier, or sign-up required. We sustain the platform through non-intrusive advertising.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Every calculator works without an account. Just open the page, enter your numbers, and get results instantly.

Does MoneyCalc store my financial data?

No. All calculations run entirely in your browser. Your inputs never leave your device and we never store personal financial information.

Can I use MoneyCalc on my phone or tablet?

Yes. MoneyCalc is fully responsive and optimized for all screen sizes — phone, tablet, and desktop.

Accuracy & Formulas

How accurate are the calculators?

Our calculators use standard financial formulas identical to those used by lenders and financial institutions. For mortgage calculators, this includes full amortization math with PMI drop-off, property tax, and insurance.

Why does my result differ from my lender's quote?

Lenders may factor in origination fees, points, escrow, and other costs that vary by lender. Our calculators give you a baseline — always confirm with your lender for your specific situation.

How often are calculators updated?

We review calculators regularly for accuracy and current best practices. The underlying formulas are based on time-tested financial mathematics.

Can I trust the compound interest results?

Yes. We use the standard compound interest formula A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt) with support for different compounding frequencies (daily, monthly, quarterly, annually).

Features

Can I download my results as a PDF?

Yes! Most calculators include a 'Download PDF' button that captures your results as a PDF — useful for sharing with a financial advisor or keeping records.

Does MoneyCalc work offline?

Once the page is loaded, you can use most calculator functions without an internet connection, since all calculations run in-browser.

How do I search for a specific calculator?

Click the search icon in the header to open the search modal. Start typing a calculator name or financial topic — results filter in real time.

What categories of calculators does MoneyCalc offer?

We cover 8 categories: Mortgage & Home Loans, Personal Loans, Debt Tools, Savings, Credit Cards, Retirement, Budgeting, and Other Financial Tools.

Mortgage Calculators

What inputs does the mortgage calculator require?

The mortgage calculator accepts home price, down payment, interest rate, and loan term. Optional inputs include property tax rate, homeowners insurance, HOA fees, and PMI rate.

What is PMI and when does it apply?

PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance) applies when your down payment is less than 20% of the home price. MoneyCalc calculates when PMI automatically drops off based on your amortization schedule.

Can I calculate how much house I can afford?

Yes — use our Mortgage Affordability Calculator which works backwards from your budget to calculate the maximum home price you can comfortably afford.
