Salary to Hourly Calculator

Convert annual salary into an hourly equivalent using your paid weeks and weekly hours. Compare full-time and part-time schedules before taxes.

Before you calculate

Includes base gross pay only. Use 52 paid weeks if your annual salary includes paid vacation. Use fewer weeks for unpaid time off. Overtime, benefits, bonuses, taxes and payroll rules are not modeled. This comparison rate is not the legal regular rate for overtime.

What is my salary worth per hour?

Divide annual gross pay by the hours represented by your paid schedule. Changing weekly hours can change the hourly equivalent even when annual pay stays the same. The monthly figure spreads annual income evenly over twelve months; it is not a take-home-pay estimate.

Hourly equivalent = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × paid weeks per year)

Worked example

$60,000 ÷ (40 × 52) = $28.85 per hour. At 50 hours a week, the same salary is $23.08 per scheduled hour.

Assumptions and limits

How to interpret MoneyCalc estimates

Frequently asked questions

Should I use 50 or 52 weeks?

Use the weeks covered by the annual pay you entered. Paid vacation remains part of a 52-week paid year. Unpaid time off changes the paid weeks and usually the annual earnings too.

Does salary divided by 2,080 always work?

Only when the schedule is 40 hours for 52 paid weeks. A part-time, seasonal or longer workweek needs a different denominator.
